چکیده

This is a case report of a renal carcinoma which was secreting inactive renin. Using an antibody to human renin and the indirect immunoperoxidase technique, the renin-containing cells were localised within the tumour. These were found to be small granular cells situated in a perivascular position. The histological immunocytochemical and ultrastructural features of these cells are described.

Renin in renal cell carcinoma--an immunocytochemical study using an antibody to pure human renin.

We have studied a series of 19 primary renal cell carcinomas using an antibody to pure human renin and the indirect PAP technique. Seven tumours contained immunoreactive renin. No renin was identified in seven cases of metastatic tumour within the kidney, but immunoreactive renin was present in two out of seven metastatic renal cell carcinomas in other organs. None of the subjects had clinical,...

Nasopharyngeal Metastasis Originating From Beta-HCG Being Secreting From Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Renal Pelvis: A Case Report

Introduction: Transitional cell carcinomas (TCC) of the upper urinary tract constitute only 7% of urothelial carcinomas. The majority of upper urinary tract TCC arises from the renal pelvis, followed by the ureter. The majority of the patients are presented with microscopic or macroscopic haematuria, flank pain, or symptoms due to metastasis; however, it can be asymptomatic in 10-15%. Case pre...

Characterization of inactive renin from human kidney and plasma. Evidence of a renal source of circulating inactive renin.

An inactive form of renin has been isolated from human plasma. It has been suggested that this may represent renin precursor secreted from the kidney. However, early studies failed to isolate inactive renin from human renal tissue. In this investigation, rapid processing of human kidney cortex at temperatures below 4 degrees C in the presence of protease inhibitors followed by cibacron-blue aff...

Ultrastructural and immunocytochemical study of a case of invasive cribriform breast carcinoma.

A case of recurrent invasive cribriform carcinoma of the breast mimicked the histological and mucin staining characteristics of adenoid cystic carcinoma. The diagnosis was based on negative immunocytochemical staining for laminin and ultrastructural evidence of luminal differentiation by cells lining the cystic spaces. Accurate characterisation of this type of breast tumour can be facilitated b...
